Domino's Driver Shifts: Lunch, Dinner Rush and Closing Hours
Thinking about delivering for Domino's but want to know what the hours are really like? This guide explains the shifts Domino's delivery drivers typically work, from lunch and dinner rush to closing. It covers how long shifts usually run, how many shifts a week stores expect, what happens between deliveries, and how to choose the right shift for your schedule. It's an independent guide based on Domino's careers site and real franchise driver postings. Most Domino's stores set their own schedules, so check each listing for the details.
Who sets Domino's driver schedules
Domino's says most of its stores are owned and operated by independent franchisees. Each franchisee is a separate employer that makes its own hiring and employment decisions, including scheduling[1]. In practice, shift times, shift lengths and weekly hour expectations differ from store to store, even within one town.
The best guide to a store's shifts is its posting on Domino's careers site, jobs.dominos.com. Many driver postings list the shift windows they're hiring for. For how hiring works before you get to scheduling, see our Domino's hiring process guide.
Common Domino's driver shifts
These examples come from franchise driver postings we reviewed on Domino's careers site. They show the typical pattern, not a standard schedule.
| Shift | What postings describe | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Day / lunch | A day shift from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; lunch positions listed alongside dinner and closing | Saint Charles, MO[2] and Prosper, TX[3] postings |
| Dinner rush | A dinner shift from about 4 or 5 p.m. to 9 or 10 p.m. | Saint Charles, MO posting[2] |
| Closing | A closing shift from about 5 or 6 p.m. to 1 a.m. | Saint Charles, MO posting[2] |
| Daytime and evening mix | Both daytime and evening shifts available | Gatesville, TX posting[4] |
The pattern follows when people order pizza. Lunch is steady, the dinner rush is the busiest stretch, and closing covers late-evening orders plus end-of-night cleanup. Stores that stay open later need closers later. When the store closes is the best clue to when a closing shift ends.
How long shifts run and how many you work
Domino's driver jobs are known for flexibility, and the postings back that up:
- Short or long shifts. A Jonesboro, Arkansas posting described short or long shifts as the driver's choice, said drivers can choose their own schedule, and offered both part-time and full-time hours[5].
- One shift a week or several. A Gatesville, Texas posting said the store could accommodate a schedule of as little as one shift a week or as many as five to six[4].
- Part-time and full-time. A Prosper, Texas posting listed both part-time and full-time driver openings[3].
- Flexible scheduling around life. A Concord, New Hampshire posting pitched its flexible schedule as a way to fit work around school, friends or a second job[6].
"Flexible" doesn't mean every shift is always open. Busy nights such as weekends may be where a store needs the most help, so ask what the store needs before you assume you can work only quiet shifts.
What happens between deliveries
Driving is only part of the job. A Jonesboro posting noted that drivers may make several deliveries per shift and must carry pizzas and beverages between the vehicle and the customer[5]. Driver postings from Gatesville and Concord list in-store duties too, such as stocking ingredients from the delivery area to storage, the work area and the walk-in cooler[4][6].
Expect your shift to mix runs with prep, folding boxes, answering phones or cleaning, especially before the rush and at close. For how this compares with Amazon Flex and DSP driving, see our delivery driver jobs guide.
In-store shifts at Domino's
Not driving? Customer service representatives and pizza makers work similar windows. Several franchise CSR postings we reviewed were looking for part-time team members especially for evenings and late-night shifts. One posting also said those stores close on Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day[7], which is a store-level policy, not a Domino's-wide rule. Our Domino's jobs guide explains the main store roles.
How to choose your Domino's shift
- Check the requirements first. The driver postings we reviewed required drivers to be at least 18, with a valid license, a safe driving record and an insured vehicle[3][5][6]. Some stores ask for a longer driving history, and stores run background and motor vehicle record checks.
- Think about night driving. Closing shifts can end after midnight. If you're not comfortable driving late, ask for lunch, day or dinner shifts.
- Plan around the rush. Dinner-rush shifts are short and busy, which suits students and people with a day job.
- Be clear about weekends. If you can work Friday or Saturday nights, say so up front.
- Apply to more than one store. Franchisees hire independently, so shift options vary between nearby stores.
- Never pay to get hired. The FTC says honest employers won't ask you to pay to get a job[8].
Availability will come up in your interview. See our Domino's interview questions guide. Comparing employers? Read the Dunkin' shifts, Amazon warehouse shifts and Costco shifts guides.
